Chalobah Set to Take Over from Marc Guehi in Three Lions Squad

Chelsea defender playing for England

The Chelsea star followed his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first duo of siblings to earn caps for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is set to be added to the England squad to fill in for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is scheduled to meet up with the national side for England's final World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, although it has not yet been confirmed.

The Three Lions have already qualified for the upcoming World Cup.

Chalobah received his maiden invitation under England manager Thomas Tuchel in May and then earned his first cap against the Senegalese team.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be omitted from the team for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and also omitted him for the following October matches.

Tuchel has been an significant influence in Chalobah's progress, having handed him his Chelsea debut in 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in nearly all matches for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the club third in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar recently.

There are expected to be further call-ups to the team. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) are set to pull out from the England setup.
